Fishing Activities Barefoot Campsites, Appleton

Catch a whopper!

Find your perfect fishing spot with us.

Here’s your opportunity to sit on the riverbank and mess about with fishing rods! Coarse fishing on the Thames is strictly ‘catch and release’ so you can’t cook what you catch, but don’t forget to take a photo before you release them back into the water.

Fishing Activities, Barefoot Campsites, Appleton.

Fishing Permits are available from us for a 2km stretch along the Appleton side of the riverbank from the Upper Lock Paddock downstream almost as far as Bablock Hythe.

The permit also covers a 1300m stretch along the Towpath on the Northmoor side of the riverbank, in the field surrounding Northmoor Lock and the next 2 fields upstream to the field just before Rainbow Bridge.

The permit allows fishing in the weir pool but only from the riverbank, not from the weir itself.

Key species include:

Barbel, Bream, Chub, Dace, Perch, Pike, Roach and Rudd.
