“We’ve just had a great weekend at Northmoor Lock. The site was wonderful, and although there seemed to be lots of cars in the car park, it didn’t feel busy. It was great knowing that the kids could play without having to worry about cars. We thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the river, and finishing off the evening with dinner cooked over a real fire, then sitting round our campfire late into the night relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends. My 5 year old son summed it up by saying “I will never forget this day!”

Kind Regards, Janice,  July 2014

New to Barefoot?

Here’s How to Book:

1) Check you tent/campervan/awning details carefully:

All pitches are allocated according to the tents that will be pitched on them so please have your exact tent details ready as we can’t process your booking request without this information.  Details should be on the bag

Vango 600 etc is not enough information, I need the model too and, where appropriate, XL or DLX etc   eg Vango Beta 350 XL.

Be very careful with the Berghaus 6 and Berghaus 6XL   They are very different tents!

Berghaus 6
Berghaus 6XL

2) Click the Availability Overview link below:

Check the weekend you are interested into see if we have space.   If you are part of a group who I have already been in touch with to say that we can accommodate you then that has been taken into account.

3) If we have space, click the Request a Pitch button:

Complete the booking form and submit your details.

4) If you want to camp with friends?

You’ll need their tent details too to enquire whether we can accommodate your group.

NB Please check the Group Bookings information below carefully as we have strict limited on groups.

Tent, Campervan or Log Pod

To book a log pod, campervan or tent pitch at Barefoot, please visit our ‘Availability Overview’ page via the “Check Availability” link below.  From there you will be able to ‘Request a Pitch’. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible to confirm whether we can accommodate your tent. Camping fees must then be submitted in full to secure your booking.

This is a small campsite:  We take great care not to overcrowd the site so pitches are allocated according to the size, shape and orientation of your tent. When completing your booking request it is therefore essential to include the following information as appropriate:

  • for tents we’ll need the make, model, number, XL, DLX etc (eg Vango Capri 500 XL) and the size of any extension they would like to add to their tent:
    • The make and model of your tent is important: The size and shape of 4-man and larger tents varies considerably and not all our pitches are able to accommodate them all. For example, a pitch which will accommodate a HiGear Oasis Elite 6 will not be big enough for a Freedom Trail Toco LX 6, whereas the 8-man Coleman Cortes Octagon 8 will fit on the same size pitch as the 5-man Vango Artemis 500. And don’t forget to include the number – the popular Quechua Arpenaz tents from Decathalon range in size from a tiny 2-man tent, through various sizes including the 4-man 4.1, 4.2 up to the 6-man 6.3 and the 8-man 8.4XL model. We will not be able to confirm availability without this information. The make and model of your tent is usually written on the tent bag. Please check this before submitting your booking request.
  • the stated capacity of your tent: 2-man, 4-man etc can usually be determined by the number that appears in the tent’s name – eg a Vango Capri 500 is a 5-man tent, a Vango 300 is a 3-man tent, a Vango 400 indicates a 4-man tent
  • the size of any extension or awning you’d like to add to your tent (this is because an extension can turn a 3-man tent into the equivalent of a 5-man tent etc and we’ll need to allocate a pitch which will accommodate it)
  • for campervans we’ll need the make and model of the campervan plus the make and model of any awning you would like to use so please check these details carefully. Please also note that we only accept small SWB (short wheel base) campervans, such as the old VW’s or Bongos, not LWB (long wheel base) campervans, conversions or motorhomes. Max length 5m

Want to camp with friends?

Many campsites no longer allow groups but as long as the groups who do come don’t cause a problem for other campers we’re happy to welcome them. Having said that, we have found in the past that, inevitably, the larger the group, the more noise they make: This can easily overwhelm individuals, couples, families, and those who have come to relax and unwind and is partly why we now only allow small groups. For us, this means a maximum of 6 pitches, whether this be just tents or a mixture of tents, campervans, log pods and bell tents.

Please take our 6 family limit seriously

Do not try to exceed this limit by booking independently – when we discover that more than 6 families have booked in who are clearly part of the same group, either during the booking process or on arrival at the campsite, all the bookings will be cancelled. Camping fees will not be refunded.

It therefore probably goes without saying that if you’re looking for a location for a school year group, noisy birthday, stag or hen party, then this is not the site for you.

Even with a small group, noise levels can rise easily, particularly when gathered around a campfire in the evenings, so we ask you to be aware of this and mindful of others on the campsite, especially after 9pm and before 8am in the morning.

Each family will need to submit their own booking request, agree to the campsite code and pay their pitch fees etc, however, before they do that you’ll want to know if we can accommodate your group as a whole so, here’s how to enquire:

This is a small campsite and we take great care to avoid overcrowding. It is therefore essential to include the information we need to achieve this when provisionally reserving additional pitches for your group: You’ll need to include the same details for their tents as you have for your own so please check with your friends and make sure you have details for all tents and campervans in your group before submitting your booking request:

    • for tents we’ll need the make, model, number, XL, DLX etc (eg Vango Capri 500 XL) and the size of any extension they would like to add to their tent.
    • for campervans we’ll need the make and model of the campervan plus the make and model of any awning they would like to use so please check these details with each family when you’re discussing your holiday plans. Please also note that we only accept small SWB (short wheel base) campervans, such as the old VW’s or Bongos, not LWB (long wheel base) campervans, conversions or motorhomes. Max length 5m It’s important that the information you provide at this stage is correct: If you reserve a pitch for your friends and they subsequently submit details for a larger tent or campervan, chances are we won’t be able to accommodate them and that would be a shame.
  1. Start by completing a booking request for your family, that way we’ll have all the details for booking your own pitch.
  2. When you have completed your own pitch details, you’ll find an option to provisionally reserve/’pencil in’ additional pitches for your friends whether that be a log pod, furnished bell tent, campervan or tent pitch. At this stage we just need their name and tent/campervan details.
  3. When you’ve completed this, submit your form. (Please don’t leave the page until you receive a message saying that you booking request as been received, otherwise the information you have entered will be lost and you’ll have to start again. This may take a couple of minutes – please be patient)

***

Once we have received your booking request:

    • We’ll look at the details for your pitch and the additional pitches you’ve asked us about and confirm with you whether we can accommodate your group.

If we are able to say ‘yes’ to your group:

    • You then need to ask your friends to visit our website to submit their own booking request with their contact details, number of adults and children etc. You’ll need to ask them to mention that they are submitting their family details for a pitch provisionally reserved by you so that we can tie up their requests with your group.

How to pay

Please don’t pay until we ask for payment

–  we’ll confirm camping fees and request payment when we confirm a suitable pitch is available for you/your group.

Where possible, please pay for your pitch via your on-line banking facilities.
